Hello and welcome to The Prologue’s Leaf! This is our second iteration of “the denim jacket to rule them all,” but our first Leaf line version. In our never-ending quest to make perfect garments, we’ve made some changes for Prologue V2 that we think you’re going to love.

More information is below, but in short: we’ve moved construction over to the USA, used American denim, shortened the jacket, opened up the fit, riveted the sleeves, added waist adjusters, added a locker loop, and subtly accounted for your first wash (the jacket is cut a tiny bit larger to account for some shrink when washing).

So, we present to you The Prologue’s Leaf, V2, constructed from 12oz American denim. Built to be stolen by that special someone on a crisp evening out, worn to the most rambunctious of parties, wonderful trips, and anything in between. This jacket is raw and will get far better with age. Break it down, fade it, repair it, sign it, and pass it down to start the rodeo all over again.

What is our Leaf Line?

You’re currently viewing our Leaf line of clothing. The goal of the Leaf line is to offer our silhouettes at a lower cost without compromising on fabric quality, manufacturing location, or anything of the sort. Instead, we look for ways to lower costs such as: using non-selvedge denim instead of selvedge, using fabrics without patterns so our fabric yield is higher, removing linings to make pieces for slightly warmer weather, sticking to more traditional materials, etcetera. Our Leaf line products are made in the same factories, have the same fit, some of the same details as our Primordial line, and are all guaranteed to be of outstanding quality.

How did we lower the cost? It’s quite easy with denim. Generally, selvedge denim, although fascinating, filled with wonderful textures and self-finished, is around four times more expensive than its non-selvedge counterpart. This is due to the speed of production and also the width of the rolls of fabric. A roll of non-selvedge denim is generally two times wider than selvedge denim (half the fabric for double the cost). Of course, that doesn’t mean we didn’t go far beyond the grade. Hailing from the great state of Louisiana is our 12oz raw denim with an incredibly beautiful indigo hue and a fair amount of hairy texture (caused by short cotton fibers that were purposely not burned off in the finishing process of denim). This denim, while firm and the slightest bit rigid upon the first touch, will soften up quickly and flow easily. Twelve-ounce denim is the industry standard weight for a reason; it’s near perfection. While not selvedge, this may well be many a customer’s favorite denim.

The Tale

Each and every piece made by The Iron Snail comes with its own tale, hence The Tale of The Iron Snail. Our Leaf Line comes with its own separate story and is a part of Iron Snail lore. Your Prologue will come with a small booklet — contained in the booklet is, of course, The Leaf Line Lore, but also, a care guide on how to best treat your denim.

The Denim

The Prologue’s Leaf uses 12oz American denim. This denim weight will be very familiar to you, although coming out of the box, it’ll be raw. If you’ve never worn raw denim before, it’ll be slightly crisp and a bit stiffer than pre-washed denim. Although, as the term “pre-wash” implies, the only difference between this and “store brand denim” is a wash! Wear this jacket raw, enjoy the feeling, wash it, and watch the fades come in, the texture come out, and the denim soften right up to feel cozy-wozy.

The Patch

What good is a denim jacket without a patch?! Well to many, plenty good, but to us, still plenty good…but also, patches are awesome. Your Prologue’s Leaf comes with our Leaf Line Patch depicting the apex of the Leaf Line story. It is not pre-sewn, put it wherever you’d like!

Build quality, good sizing way off

This is a well built, check it however I ordered a XXL and it fit like an L from Levi’s. The sleeves were even very short. This is very unusual. It led me to wonder if an error had been made in marking the size as this was done by hand on the jacket. I sent an email and received no reply. Now I’m stuck with a jacket that doesn’t fit.

Hey Ismael!

Thanks for the review and kind words about the build quality. Sometimes we do get stuck in spam folders and request you check yours. We responded to your inquiry in under 24 hours and are happy to check the sizing and initiate a return. We'll check the sizing for you once received and cover all costs associated with the purchase if the sizing was incorrect. We never want anyone stuck with product that doesn't fit them.

Thank you for the support and apologies for the disappointment here. We'll get it sorted and take care of it. Once again, please check spam!

All the best,

- Michael

Incredible Denim

Stats- 5ft 7in, weighing anywhere from 155-180 (cut vs bulk weight). At the time of review, 162-165lbs.

In order to get the right fit, I measured my favorite jacket following the How to Measure for a Mammoth video, and based on that, the fit was nearly perfect. I have T-Rex arms, so I knew the sleeves would be too long and hoped they would shrink in the wash—and they did. After a warm water wash and throwing this bad boy in the dryer for about three minutes before leaving it to air dry, the sleeves shrunk the perfect amount in length. I’d estimate the sleeve length shrinkage at around 3-5% with this method. I couldn’t tell any difference in width across the back, chest, or shoulders after the wash.

I typically wear a medium in most jackets, but I had to size up to a large for this one. Definitely measure yourself, your best-fitting jacket, and if you're between sizes, size up. The jacket will shrink after the first wash, with the amount depending on water temperature and drying method.

The silhouette of the jacket is on point—slim, slightly tapered, and cropped, making it a timeless classic that’s both modern and incredibly versatile. Though slim and tapered, I do not find this jacket restrictive in the slightest. The deep, rich indigo contrasts beautifully with the orange stitching and brass buttons, making the details pop. The denim itself is high quality, and since it’s raw, it has a beautiful texture that will evolve over time. Though stiff at first, it softens quickly. After the first wash and just a few wears, the denim softens up nicely and starts molding to your body for a custom fit.

Overall, this is a fantastic denim jacket that I would recommend to others. At this price, it’s hard to beat.

Love my XL (187cm / 90kg) - thanks Michael + team

Beautiful jacket which I love very much! Please put a diagram showing what the size measurements represent (e.g. arm length is measured form where to where). I was tossing up between buying an M or L based on the measurements on the product page, but bought XL after finding people on Reddit my size and seeing their experience. Now I have the XL, it’s beautiful, perfect, super happy to be supporting Michael.
